Sheriffhall Park and Ride opened in February 2008. Park your car FOR FREE and catch the bus to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary [ERI] or Edinburgh City Centre for no more than £1.20 for a single journey [fares correct as from Sunday 18 January 2009]. 12 buses depart Sheriffhall Park and Ride every hour for the ERI and the City Centre during the daytime Mondays to Fridays The site is located just to the east of the A7 part way between Danderhall Village and the Sheriffhall Roundabout. Access to the Sheriffhall P+R is off a roundabout on the A7 that also serves a new business park. For those with SatNav equipment, use the postcode EH22 1FF to receive instructions on how to reach Sheriffhall. The parking area has spaces for 561 vehicles, including 15 spaces for disabled Blue Badge holders which are located close to the terminal building. Car drivers should note that cars should follow a general clockwise circulation through the parking area. When you enter the site, cars must bear left into the parking area ["buses only" straight ahead]. Cars must drive clockwise to reach the exit on the far side of the bus turning apron. At the exit, cars must give priority to buses departing the site. Buses serve the Sheriffhall Park and Ride site from early morning to late evening on seven days of the week. The earliest buses from Sheriffhall Park and Ride to the city centre are 48 - Lothian Buses - 0616 {Mon-Fri], 0801 [Sat], 1014 [Sun] X48 - Lothian Buses - 0713 {Mon-Fri] [Does not run Sat/Sun] 49 Lothian Buses - 0643 [Mon-Fri], 0711 [Sat], 0831 [Sun] 86 First Edinburgh - 0550 [Mon-Fri], 0611 {Sat], 0632 [Sun] The last buses from the city centre [North Bridge] back to Sheriffhall Park and Ride are 48 - Lothian Buses - 2254 [7 days a week] X48 - Lothian Buses - 1813 [Mon-Fri] [Does not run Sat/Sun] 49 - Lothian Buses - 2314 [7 days a week] 86 - First Edinburgh - 2334 [Mon-Sat], 2400 [Sun] X48 runs at peak hours only on Mondays to Fridays. Departure times from Sheriffhall to the city centre - 0713, 0722, 0730, 0738, 0748, 0758, 0808, 0818, 0828 and 0838 in the morning peak, and at 1540, 1550, 1600, 1610, 1620, 1630, 1640, 1650, 1700, 1710, 1720, 1735 and 1752 in the afternoon peak. Return X48 buses from North Bridge run at 0742, 0753, 0806, 0816, 0829, 0839, 0849, 0859 and 0919 in the morning peak, and at 1633, 1643, 1653, 1703, 1713, 1723, 1733, 1743, 1753, 1803 and 1813 in the afternoon peak. Scotland-wide free bus pass entitlement cards are valid on all bus services from Sheriffhall P+R to the ERI and the City Centre, and back - so cardholders can park for free and ride for free The staffed terminal building is open Mondays to Fridays 0645-1015 and 1530-1900. It is not open on Saturdays or Sundays. The terminal building has an information and ticket office staffed by Lothian Buses, toilets, seating and is heated in winter. ## The terminal building is temporarily unavailable [from mid-afternoon on 22/07/10]. It will reopen as soon as practically possible. This will be announced on this webpage. We apolgize for any inconvenience caused during this closure. TERMINAL BUILDING WAS REOPENED FROM MONDAY MORNING 26 JULY 2010 ## There are real time information displays pole-mounted units for 48, X48 and 49 buses citybound and southbound services operated by Lothian Buses [First Edinburgh do not have the equipment on their buses needed to send signals to the Bustracker control centre in Edinburgh]. Midlothian Council publishes two leaflets that combine bus times from both operators [one for those travelling to and from the city centre, the second for those travelling to and from the ERI]. Bus Service Information Lothian Buses and First Edinburgh both offer bus services between Sheriffhall, the ERI and Edinburgh city centre. Frequency is higher at the peaks, but lower in the evenings and at weekends. The adult single fare from Sheriffhall P+R to the ERI or the City Centre is £1.20 with both First and Lothian Buses [correct at 18.01.09]. Both operators have an exact fare policy for fares bought from the bus driver, so please have the correct change available when boarding. The ticket office at Sheriffhall sells single and day tickets for Lothian Buses [but not First], and does give change.
