SESplan Consultation

Have your say about the future planning of the Edinburgh and South East Scotland area, which includes the development of Midlothian, for the period 2012 to 2032.

The Strategic Development Planning Authority for Edinburgh and South East Scotland (SESplan) has prepared a Main Issues Report (MIR) as an important first stage in the preparation of a Strategic Development Plan (SDP) for the area.  Its purpose is to set out the context and challenges facing the SESplan area around the key areas of economy, population and housing, transport and infrastructure, environment, resources and climate change.  It also suggests how these challenges might be met, setting out two future growth scenarios, and identifying 8 strategic growth areas. SESplan would like to know what you think about these important issues which will affect the future of your area.

A consultation period on the Main Issues Report and related Monitoring Statement is underway.  Views are also invited on an Interim Environmental Report.  The consultation period runs for a 12 week period from 31 May until 27 August 2010.  By getting involved in the consultation individuals, businesses, organisations, politicians and communities can feedback their views on the future development of the SESplan area.

During the consultation period, you can view the above documents at public libraries and Council Planning receptions within the SESplan area and can view or download from the SESplan website: http://www.SESplan.gov.uk/consultation.  In addition Technical Notes and supporting materials are available to view or download from the SESplan website.  Exhibitions are also being held across the SESplan area where planners will be available to discuss the SDP and listen to your views.
