The Planning Team for Children & Families is responsible for the planning, purchasing and commissioning of services to support and engage children, young people and their families. In carrying out these duties the team is responsible for making sure Midlothian’s children and families receive the best possible services whilst ensuring that best value is being achieved. The Planning Team is also responsible for taking a lead role in informing colleagues in the Locality, and Resources teams, about new research, policies and reports that are published by the Scottish Government, as well as having a lead role in the development of local policies, strategies, and initiatives, etc. In addition the Planning Section has a key role in promoting delivery of services in partnership with other agencies, and contributing to the performance monitoring and evaluation of the delivery of these services, to achieve the best outcomes for children, young people and their families
