Services Provided By Lothian Community Transport Services (LCTS)
Minibus Hire Service
The Minibus Hire Service is provided for non-profit making community and voluntary groups in Midlothian. The minibuses, which are all designed to carry passengers travelling in wheelchairs, can be hired on either a self-drive or a with-driver basis.
This service is financially supported by Midlothian Council.
Community Bus Service
The Community Bus Service provides a link to local shopping centres from communities less well served by public transport.
Service R1 operates on Thursdays and links Temple & Carrington to shopping centres in Bonnyrigg and Dalkeith, including the Tesco store at Eskbank.
Service R2 operates on Thursdays and links parts of Newtongrange and Gorebridge with shopping centres in Bonnyrigg and Dalkeith, including the Tesco store at Eskbank.
Service R3 operates on Thursdays and links Dalkeith with the ASDA store at The Jewel in Edinburgh going via Danderhall and Newton Village.
Service R4 operates on Mondays and links Dalkeith with the Sainsbury store at Straiton, going via Lasswade and parts of Loanhead.
Service R5 operates on Mondays and links Temple and Carrington with the Sainsbury store at Straiton, going via Bonnyrigg, Lasswade and parts of Loanhead.
None of these services operate from 24 December to 2 January inclusive or on Easter Monday, but do run on other local public holidays.
These services are financially supported by Midlothian Council.
On all routes, a standard flat fare is charged for any single journey. The current fares [correct at 31 August 2009] are given below. Concessionary Scotland-wide free bus travel or reduced fare travel is available on production of a valid National Entitlement Card [NEC].
Infant 0-4 Free Child 5-15 60p
Young Person Concessionary 16-18 80p with NEC
Volunteer Concessionary 19-25 80p with NEC
Adult 16-59 Non-Concessionary £1.20 Adult 60+ Concessionary Free with NEC
Adult 60 + Non-Concessionary £1.20
Disabled all ages Concessionary Free with NEC
