Questseekers Summer Reading Challenge The summer reading challenge for children was launched at Gorebridge Library when Edinburgh author Anne Forbes entertained children from Gorebridge and Stobhill Primary Schools. Library staff Ginny Hamilton and Alex Ferguson surpassed themselves in their fantasy dress.
 Carnegie & Kate Greenaway Childrens' Book Awards The Carnegie Award is awarded by children's librarians for an outstanding book for children and young people. The Kate Greenaway Medal is awarded by children's librarians for an outstanding book in terms of illustration for children and young people. Check out the 2009 shortlist for some great reads. Ask at your local library for more information. The winners were announced on 25th June, so check the 2009 awards to see if your favourite was also the judges' choice. Royal Mail Book Awards for Scottish Children's Books Great news for young readers - the shortlist for the Royal Mail Book Awards has just been announced. There are three categories - early years 0 - 7, younger readers 8-11 and older readers 12 - 16. Check here for more information or ask at your local library.
