Through its environmental and waste policies, the Council is committed to the principle of sustainability, and to conserving and enhancing the built and natural environment of Midlothian.
A full kerbside collection of household waste has been introduced and a fully automated waste management complex is planned to meet Government targets for reducing the amount of waste to landfill. New measures have recently been introduced to deal with the problem of dog fouling and litter, and a major upgrade of playgrounds is almost completed.
