Race training
Race Training courses are offered at the centre to those who have attained level 6. These courses only run during the Summer Ski School and consist of 2 different levels; Race Club Introduction and Race Club Experienced.
Race Club Introduction
This specially designed week of race orientated skiing activities is structured to introduce young skiers to the essentials of ski racing.
Candidates will have attained level 6 or 7 of the ski school grading system and be good parallel skiers, able to ski from the top station.
The course will cover:
- Basic technique
- Target turning
- Starts
- The 'racing line'
- Edge control
- Fitness awareness sessions
- Slalom and Giant Slalom practice
- Video analysis
Race Club Experienced
For youngsters who are registered racers and are currently a member of a race club.
Familiar with Slalom and Giant Slalom practice, candidates should already be involved in competition and be keen to develop their technique to improve their performance in all aspects of racing.
The course will cover:

- Starts
- The 'racing line'
- Edge control
- Fitness awareness sessions
- Slalom and Giant Slalom practice
- Video analysis

Race Training Programmes and Clubs
If you are keen to be involved in a Race Training Programme within a club there are two clubs which currently train at Midlothian Snowsports Centre on a regular basis; Midlothian Race Training and LSRA.
Midlothian Race Training
This is a popular schools programme, and is open to Midlothian residents only (not City of Edinburgh). If you are interested in joining training, please contact Midlothian Snowsports Centre for more information.
When: Wednesday evenings 16.45 - 18.15
Lothian Ski Racing Association (LSRA)
LSRA is an affiliated club of Snowsport Scotland which provides a variety of training nights to encourage involvement in race training.
Wednesday night provides an introduction to race training and technique development while Thursday night is a more advanced technical night for registered racers.
