Junior Snowboard Schools

Junior snowboard lessons are for young people aged 8 - 17 years.

Standards

Please read the information below to help determine which level is most suitable for your child.

Commence Cruising

Entry: Complete beginner or completed one open class (no skiing, surfing, skateboarding experience required)

Content: Provide rider with basics of technique, control of speed and direction, sideslipping and diagonal sideslipping, safe use of uplift (tow and chair)

Slider

Entry: Commence Cruising Certificate/Level 3, use tow to middle and perform diagonal sideslip on both toe and heel edge.

Content: Stance and riding style improvement, J turns and garlands on both heel and toe edges, improve steering skills

Rider

Entry: Slider Certificate/ Level 4, J turns and garlands on heel and toe edges

Content: Revision of garlands/ J turns, introduction to basic turns, controlled descent from the top, safe use of tow and chair to the top

Turner

Entry: Rider, able to do basic turns heel side and toe side, can use tow and chairlift to top and control descent from top

Content: Improvement of turning skills, turning from the middle station, sideslip from the top on heel and toe edge

Intermediate

Entry: Turner Certificate/ Level 5, basic turns from middle station/ linking turns

Content: Linking turns together, turns on steeper terrain, short radius and long radius turns

Performance

Intermediate  Certificate/ Level 6, turning from the top, smooth short radius from middle

Content: Performance turns, turning from the top, switch turns, on slope freestyle, basic jumps

Freestyle

Entry: Level 7 Certificate, should be able to make turns forwards and switch (backwards) and make basic jumps and be competent on the tow

Contect: Developing freestyle skills, jumping technique, grabs and spins, slope tricks
