Unexpected building closures
Unexpected building or facility closures, eg due to flooding or essential maintenance, will be posted on our Building closures page. Closures due to public or local holidays are shown below.
Holiday closures to council buildings 2012
Council offices, community centres and social work centres will be closed to the public on local public holidays shown below. Schools may be closed on additional dates. However our emergency services will usually be open on local holidays, as will some other facilities detailed below.
Please note these dates may not be the same as Scottish Bank Holidays:

Some services and facilities will be open during the Easter holiday weekend:

Leisure Centres and pools
Bonnyrigg Leisure Centre and Loanhead Leisure Centre are open as follows:
- Friday 6 April 10:00 - 18:00
- Saturday 7 April 09:00 - 20:00
- Sunday 8 April 09:00 - 20:00 (21:00 closing at Loanhead)
- Monday 9 April 13:00 - 21:00
All Leisure Centres and Newbattle Pool are closed on Friday 6 and Monday 9 April apart from Bonnyrigg and Loanhead as detailed above.
All Leisure Centres and Newbattle Pool are open normal hours on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 April.
Midlothian Snowsports Centre at Hillend
The Snowsports Centre will be open as normal.
Libraries
Penicuik Library is open as follows:
- Closed Friday 6 April
- Open Saturday 7 April 09.30 - 17.00
- Open Sunday 8 April 13.00 - 17.00
- Closed Monday 9 April
All other libraries, the Mobile Library and the Local Studies Centre in Loanhead are closed:

Registrar's office
The Registrar's office is closed:

Refuse and recycling collections
Bin and box collections will operate as normal. Residents should present their bin/boxes at the boundary of their property by 07:00.
Recycling centres
Both recycling centres are open as usual, 10:00-18:00
Emergency housing repairs
An emergency service will be available on 0131 663 7211 as usual.
Social Work
Dalkeith Social Work Centre, Loanhead Social Work Centre, Cherry Road Adult Resource Centre, Children's Services and Community-based day services for people with learning disabilities will be closed on the following dates:

Emergency Social Work services
Emergency Social Work services will be available on 0800 731 6969 to deal with social work emergencies as usual.
