About language and cultural support

We can help you

We can help you if your first language is not English and you would like support or if you have hearing difficulties and would like to attend lip-reading classes.

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes

If your first language is not English and you would like support to improve your spoken or written English, we can help.

We run a wide range of community based English language classes for people whose first language is not English.

From Beginner up to Advanced level our classes run daytime and evening in Dalkeith and Penicuik.

You can work towards an SQA qualification in all our classes. We can help you with words for work and everyday situations.

Please get in touch with the office for more information, using the contacts details at the foot of this page.

Lip-reading classes

If you are deaf or have hearing difficulties and live in Midlothian you can join one of our groups.

Classes run weekly during term time and are designed to help hearing-impaired adults learn to lip-read.

Classes are taught in Penicuik and Dalkeith by a professional lip-reading teacher and are friendly and informal.
