Midlothian Local Studies and Archive Service is based in Loanhead and holds a huge range of information about the history and culture of Midlothian, the local government area south of Edinburgh.
Experienced staff will be pleased to help anybody who is interested in any aspect of Midlothian, including family history enquiries.

- Saturday: Closed all day
- Sunday: Closed all day
Accessibility and Toilets
Disabled access is available. Local Studies has a disabled toilet.
How to find us
There is free parking near the Local Studies Centre.
By public transport
The No 37 bus (Lothian Buses) runs regularly from the centre of Edinburgh and stops immediately outside of the building.
The No 141 bus (First Bus) runs from Penicuik to Fort Kinnaird via Loanhead.
By car
Free parking is available on the streets nearby and there is one disabled parking space outside of the building.
