Midlothian archives

Midlothian Council holds a large collection of historical records about the Midlothian area.

Many of the records in this collection are unique and you will not find them anywhere else. The collection is invaluable if you are interested in the history and culture of Midlothian, including family history.

Amongst the most important archives are:

• Council and Town Council records
• Local business records
• Local clubs, societies and organisations
• Families and individuals

Our aim is to preserve these records and to make them available.

Everybody is welcome to use the Midlothian archives whether or not they live in Midlothian.

Midlothian archives are administered by Midlothian Council Library Service and can be accessed at Midlothian Local Studies in Loanhead.
