Volunteering with Active Schools

Midlothian Council has a policy that supports volunteering and Active Schools often use volunteers to support many of the school clubs which allows us to run these clubs free.

We also work in partnership with Volunteer Centre Midlothian where many of our opportunities are advertised.

Training and support for volunteers

Good volunteers are a very valuable asset to any service. They deserve to receive good support and supervision and have opportunities for personal development through training.

As a volunteer with Active Schools, you can take part in the many training opportunities that are available.

If you volunteer with Active Schools, you will be given a Volunteer Handbook to advise and support you.

Background checks on volunteers

We undertake Disclosure Scotland background checks on any volunteer who registers with Active Schools.
