Hawthorn children and families centre
Hawthorn Children and Families Centre is a local authority children’s service. The main purpose of the centre is to offer early intervention for children 0-5 years of age and their families. The centre works in partnership with Education providing pre-school provision for children 3-5 years of age, we provide 2 year olds placements as part of “its good to be 2 in Midlothian” and offer placements for baby’s pre birth to 2 years of age. Our early year’s service has experienced staff who also offer support to children with additional educational needs. All the staff hold relevant childcare qualifications and are registered with the SSSC.
We have excellent resources within all our play rooms, also a soft playroom, sensory room and a large developed outside play area.
Healthy meals and snacks are provided for the children, parents and staff.
Parents and carers are encouraged to attend the centre with their children and participate in the life of the centre.
We have a wide range of professional workers supporting our children i.e. Music Therapist, Play Therapist, Speech and Language Therapists, Nursery Teacher etc.
The centre offers a bus service to help support families to attend the centre if they are having difficulty getting to and from the centre.
