Hawthorn children and families centre
Hawthorn children and families centre is a local authority service.
It is the only pre-5 children and families centre of its kind in Midlothian.
The main purpose of the service is to work with the most vulnerable children, in partnership with their parents/carers.
The centre also works with children with disability or affected by disability.
The centre offers day care support, some respite may be built in.
The centre works in partnership with the Education Department to provide pre school provision, also with other agencies ie speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists to ensure the children's needs are met.
Parent and carers needs are also assessed and where possible the appropriate support are put in place to meet their needs.
The centre offers a bus service to help families who do not have transport to get to and from the centre.
The centre has consistently achieved excellent reports on its service from the families who use the service, from colleagues in other agencies and from external inspections by the Care Inspectorate.
