Communities and Support Services Performance

Communities and Support Services consists of the following teams:  

Community Learning and Development

Bases its work on the National Priorities for Community Learning and Development which cover achievement through learning for adults, for young people and through building community capacity, helping people and communities to reach their potential.

Library Services

Promotes the spread of knowledge, information, education and culture; stimulates intellectual, artistic and imaginative activity and encourage and nourish leisure interests; provides an information service to the local community, business interests and to the local authority; conserves and exploits materials, including archive materials, relating to Midlothian; operates a records management service for the local authority.

Performance and Planning, including Early Years and Childcare

Provides support across the Division for performance management, planning, quality improvement, partnership working, procurement and commissioning, and information management. The Early Years and Childcare Partnership supports and develops early years and childcare provision in all sectors and planning and quality improvement for these services.

Business Services

Manages Midlothian's Public Private Partnership schools contracts, develops property briefs and manages the school estate plan, client liaison services, Health & Safety risk assessments, divisional risk management and business continuity for all business units.

Finance and Administration

Provides administrative support, financial management and training to the whole division including 39 schools, which operate under the Scheme of Devolved Budget Management.

Staff Support

Provides support, advice and guidance in the adherence, development and dissemination of HR Policy and Practice and develops monitoring systems. It is also responsible for the organisation of specific Training and Development within the Division.
