Brown bin

Garden waste collection 2024

Sticker update

If you signed up on or before 15 February but haven't received your sticker by the first collection date, put your bin out for collection as normal.

Stickers are being posted out but were held up by a printing issue. Sorry for the delay.

We empty your brown bin fortnightly:

  • until last collection on 15 November 2024
  • if it correctly displays a 2024 collection sticker.

The collection service costs £40 per bin. More about these charges.

Payments for the service are temporarily closed.

You'll be able to sign up and pay for the service from 12 noon 21 March until 12 noon 28 March 2024.

Temporarily suspending payments lets us concentrate on dispatching stickers to subscribers, and designing collection routes. It also means that if you sign up and pay after the initial deadline, you will get your sticker within 4 weeks rather than up to 6 weeks.

Collection dates

Collections are fortnightly from 11 March to 15 November 2024. Your first and last collection will depend on where your property lies within the collection cycle.

There are no changes to garden waste collection days.

If your brown bin was previously emptied on:

  • the same day as your grey bin,
  • or (in rural areas) the day after your grey bin,

this will continue.

Buy the compost produced from our garden waste

Your garden waste is taken to a local facility for composting. The resulting soil improver is available from Caledonian Horticulture.
