Free Vehicle Emissions Testing at Asda Straiton from 24 to 27 May.

Drivers across Midlothian can benefit from free vehicle emissions testing this week at Asda, Straiton from Thursday 24 May to Sunday 27 May (inclusive). These tests have been organised by the Council as part of the East Central Scotland Emissions Partnership.

The campaign encourages the public to maintain their vehicle engines so they are more efficient and reduce emissions, and have the added benefit of improving air quality.

An expert team specialising in vehicle testing will be in the Asda Straiton car park from 9am to 5pm between Thursday 24 May and Sunday 27 May. The team will give free advice and guidance about how residents can run their car more cost effectively. They can also check your car's exhaust for harmful gases and other pollutants.

Kevin Anderson, our Head of Service for Environmental Health, said: "These free tests will let you know how well your car engine is operating and whether or not your car could fail the MOT based on what comes out of its exhaust. By ensuring your engine is running correctly you will not only save money on running costs but you will also help reduce environmental pollution.

"Vehicle emissions can be particularly harmful to those suffering from asthma or other pulmonary conditions and it is in all our interests to improve air quality."
