MAPPA Announcement regarding Robert Greens in Midlothian

Published on

As part of its legal responsibility to manage sex offenders following release from prison, MAPPA partners have arranged for Robert Greens to be housed in Midlothian.

Public protection and safety are paramount in all decisions made regarding the management of sex offenders within communities and all partners have given this matter very careful consideration

Robert Greens is from Midlothian and his management is therefore the statutory responsibility of Midlothian Council.  To do this effectively we work closely with our partner agencies in line with MAPPA (MAPPA stands for Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements).

The clear and consistent advice from experts is that the provision of stable accommodation and effective monitoring make a key contribution to minimising the risks sex offenders under MAPPA may pose.

Robert Greens has been at several addresses since his release and this is considered the most stable considering the circumstances.  This arrangement allows partners to maximise public protection.

Midlothian is Robert Greens' permanent home.
