We have clarified the position regarding implementation of the Scottish Government’s homelessness reforms, following inaccurate commentary in the media.
We have now abolished priority need categories and now assess 100% of applications from unintentionally homeless people and households as priority.
We also continue to implement a range of related measures to meet the current and anticipated increase in demand from homeless households.
These actions make Midlothian Council fully compliant with the Scottish Government's homelessness reforms, six months in advance of the legislation coming into effect.
