Newbattle swimming pool is open as normal today (Thursday).
We closed Newbattle yesterday afternoon when staff noticed an abnormal chemical reaction from the chlorine used in disinfecting the pool.
As a matter of good practice, and following health & safety guidelines where chemicals are concerned, the staff alerted the emergency services and evacuated around 20 people to the adjacent leisure centre.
No-one was injured in the incident and the pool is open as normal today.
