Businesses, agencies and other groups involved in tourism are working together with ourselves and the Midlothian Tourism Forum to develop the future of the tourism sector in the county.

Representatives from a wide range of tourism groups met on Tuesday morning (25 Sep) at the National Mining Museum in Newtongrange to develop the Midlothian Tourism Action Plan for 2013-2015. The meeting, which was hosted by ourselves and the Midlothian Tourism Forum, featured a series of speakers and in-depth focus groups, covering topics including Food and Drink, History and Heritage, Modern Technology in Tourism and Event Development.

Midlothian's tourism sector has experienced consistent growth in visitor numbers over recent years, even after the 2008 recession. Tourism has been identified as one of seven key economic sectors that are expected to play a major part in the future success of the Midlothian economy.
