Midlothian Council has introduced new security measures at the Sheriffhall Park and Ride site.
Extra barriers have been erected and, for the first time, height limits are in place at the facility on the outskirts of Edinburgh.
The new restrictions will mean that vehicles more than 2 metres (6' 9") will no longer be able to park there.
Councillor Wilma Chalmers, Cabinet Member with responsibility for the site, said: "The new measures are in response to concerns raised by commuters about the safety of their cars. However, we do realise the park and ride height restrictions now mean people with motorhomes and caravans can no longer park there.
"We think it is important to highlight this change as we understand many people planning a touring holiday in the area will be affected and may have to make alternative arrangements."
