Leader and provost appointed at first Midlothian council meeting since the election

The leader and provost of Midlothian Council were formally appointed today in the first full council meeting since the May 3rd election.
Cllr Lisa Beattie became the leader of the council, with Cllr Joe Wallace taking the role of provost.
The Scottish National Party has formed a ruling coalition with the support of independent member Peter de Vink.
The full council also agreed that Cllr Derek Rosie should become the depute provost, with Cllr Jim Bryant becoming the depute leader. 
Cllr Beattie said:"I am genuinely pleased to be appointed to this position and pledge to do my best for our residents."
Provost Wallace said: "It will be an honour and a privilege to serve the people of Midlothian."
