THE new leader of Midlothian Council has unveiled the new cabinet for the local authority.
Cllr Lisa Beattie, leader, said she was confident the new Cabinet would deliver for the people of Midlothian, speaking at the first meeting of the cabinet since local government elections last month.
Midlothian Council is controlled by the Scottish National Party in coalition with an independent member, Peter de Vink.
Cllr Beattie said: "We have a strong team in place in the Cabinet and will deliver on our pledge to improve services against what continues to be a challenging financial backdrop. We are ambitious for Midlothian, and its residents, and will work with and support our staff over the years to come."
Cabinet members work closely with council staff on how services are delivered within the local authority's resources. The Cabinet makes recommendations to the Council, which has 18 members, on financial matters such as setting council tax levels, and on major new policy proposals.
Cllr Beattie is the convener of the Cabinet and will be responsible for a number of areas.
