Could yours be the best kept garden in Midlothian?

Midlothian Council’s Housing service have launched a new competition aimed at finding the best kept garden in Midlothian.

The competition is open to all Midlothian Council tenants, and there are some great prizes on offer, including gift vouchers for Mayshade and Dobbie's garden centres. There will be prizes for the Best Garden, the Best Vegetable Garden and for the Best Flower Display.

A team from the Midlothian Tenants Forum will judge the competition entries. The closing date for entries is not until Tuesday 31 July - so there's still plenty of time to enter your garden - or that of one of your neighbours - for the competition.

Cllr Owen Thompson, Cabinet Member for Housing & Community Safety, said: "We're keen to encourage all our tenants to keep their gardens looking beautiful. Many of our tenants spend a lot of time making sure their garden looks fantastic and this competition is a great way to recognise their hard work. The competition is open to all our Council tenants so if you love gardening, be sure to submit your entry - we have some great prizes on offer for the winners."

If you want to enter your garden this year, then please let Lesley Connell know on 0131 271 3611 or by emailing lesley.connell@midlothian.gov.uk - judging will start in mid-August with winners to be announced later in the month.
