Midlothian Council is encouraging local residents to have their say on our draft 5-year Local Housing Strategy before the consultation period closes on Friday 20 July.

We are keen to hear from all residents, whether you own your home or rent, live in a house or a flat or are a private or a council tenant. Feedback from local residents will play a major role in shaping the final version of the strategy, so we are keen to hear from as many people as possible before the 20 July deadline.
Our draft strategy sets out how the Council plans to improve housing conditions and aims to ensure that all households in Midlothian will be able to access affordable, good quality housing in sustainable communities. There are five key outcomes proposed: improving housing options, tackling homelessness, improving housing conditions, reducing fuel poverty and ensuring appropriate accommodation is available for households with additional needs.
Cllr Owen Thompson, Midlothian Council Cabinet Member for Housing, said: "I want to encourage all local residents to have their say on our draft Housing Strategy before the consultation closes. Housing conditions affect everybody and our draft strategy sets out how we plan to tackle one of the biggest challenges facing Midlothian. Remember - your views will play a major role in shaping the final version of the strategy, so be sure to have your say before Friday 20 July."
There are many ways for residents to provide feedback. The draft strategy is available to read online at www.midlothian.gov.uk/local-housing-strategy .
