The purpose of this Notice is to invite nominations for two Local Community Trustees to serve on the Dean Tavern Trust.

Persons appointed will hold office for a period of no more than five years but will be eligible for re-election.
The Dean Tavern Trust comprises seven Trustees, three of whom fall to be nominated by the local authority, one being an elected Member of Midlothian Council (presently Councillor Catherine Johnstone) and the other two from the local community.
The Local Community Trustees are to be persons resident within the former Parish of Newbattle or the former Newbattle District of the County of Midlothian.
Service as a Community Trustee is unpaid.

Any person who wishes to be considered for selection as a Local Community Trustee, must by no later than 9.00 am on Thursday 13 September 2012, lodge with John Blair, Director, Corporate Resources, Midlothian Council, Midlothian House, Buccleuch Street, Dalkeith EH22 1DN, a written request for such consideration. This must contain:-
- the person's full name and address
- a statement explaining why they consider themselves worthy of appointment and setting out the skills and/or experience they believe they can bring to the role.
Supporting documentation, such as testimonials from relevant local organisations, etc, may also be lodged with requests.
Persons wishing to be considered for appointment as a Community Trustee should note that Midlothian Council has agreed that they will consult with the Dean Tavern Trust on the requests received. They will do this by providing details of the requests to the Trust for their comments e.g., for objection, recommendation or no comment, prior to the final decision being taken by the Council.
Requests for consideration should therefore only be submitted by persons who are willing to accept this procedure.
