Shaping your council - your views sought on how costs can be cut and services improved

Deadline of 1st of October to have your say

Midlothian Council has issued a call to all residents, community groups and interested organisations - come help shape the future of the services you receive!
Residents and others can win £100 of high street shopping vouchers for taking part in the consultation process - as long as your views are received by the 1st October deadline.*
The consultation process is a follow-up to previous work completed in 2010 which was extremely useful in setting the council's priorities.
The recession has continued and it's the right time to get your views on some of the choices available to your council as we seek to continue to deliver high quality services against a challenging financial picture.
This time, the council is looking to test and explore three specific aspects in detail.
These are:

  • Which services you think could be delivered online, and by phone, and which services must be provided face-to-face from an office or drop-in point?
  • Should we be spending more money on preventing social problems, rather than dealing with them when they occur?
  • How best can we work alongside service users, families and communities to design and run services for the benefit of residents?
To have your say, please fill in the survey at www.midlothian.gov.uk/futuremodel, or visit a council library to fill in the surveys provided there, or fill in the survey in the council's newspaper, Midlothian News and send it back to the freepost address given.

* Please note that this offer is only available for people using the postal survey in the council's Midlothian News.
