A701: Transport Interchange Survey -
Outcome
A report on the consultation findings will be considered by councillors at the full Council meeting later this year. We will share the outcome on this page and on our social media platforms, Facebook and X. What you tell us will help improve bus journeys along this stretch of the A701.

Closing date
Sunday 22 March -
Summary
We have funding from Transport Scotland to look at ways to make bus travel better along the A701, from south Penicuik to the Straiton Interchange. -
Survey to complete
The survey is now closed. Many thanks to more than 1,800 of you who responded.
-
We wanted to hear you views on new options for transport interchanges, such as Park and Ride sites.
This work is especially important because the lease for the current Park and Ride at Straiton (owned by the City of Edinburgh Council) ends in May 2027, so we need to plan ahead.
We sought views from people who live in, travel through, or regularly use the A701 corridor. Your experiences will help shape future options for improving travel in the area.
Many thanks to everyone who completed the survey, which was carried out on our behalf by AECOM.
The study area is shown in the map below.
