SSS Instructor course
- 15 to 19 July 2019
Remit: To instruct novice and intermediate skiers or snowboarders in confined environments (an artificial or indoor slope, or beginner’s area at a Scottish Mountain resort) within the UK as directed by an employer or Authorising Body.
Pre-course requirements: You must be at least 16 years old, able to perform confident parallel / gripped turns, and basic short turns on blue / easy red runs.
Post-course requirements: 30 hours instructing assistance in a snowsports school or club, working within the remit of the qualification.
UKCP Alpine Coach L1
- 10, 11, 17 August or 25 to 27 October
Remit: To work with children (specifically 5-12 years old) and entry standard competitors. The UKCP Level 1 Alpine Coach is able to plan and run individual training sessions appropriate for developing and challenging their athletes’ skills.
Pre-course requirements: You must be at least 16 years old, able to carve clean GS turns leaving clean tracks on easy blue piste terrain and ski rhythmical slalom turns, showing good speed and control.
Post-course requirements: On successful completion of this unit, and subject to registration and Disclosure checks, you are granted Level 1 Trainee status. To be given licensed status you must:
- Complete a distance learning workbook.
- The Level 1 Assessment. This can take place at your local ski centre. Some Level 1 Assessments are conducted one on one at a time of your choosing. Other candidates prefer to be assessed together with a group of colleagues. You will be expected to show that you can run a safe coaching session and that your personal skiing is adequate.
- Have the necessary credentials.
