Who they work withVeterans - anyone who has served for the Armed Forces, Reservists, TA and their families.
DescriptionLothians Veterans Centre is a drop-in centre located in Dalkeith, which strives to meet the needs of any ex-serviceman or woman who is experiencing challenges in their life.
We are also there for veterans’ family members.
We work with a number of employers and educational providers to fashion pathways into training and employment for veterans.
• Skills assessment
• Developing routes into community-based, Further and Higher Education.
We provide Employability training based around self-confidence, goal setting, CVs, applications and job interviews.
We provide free accredited and non-accredited courses in:
• Health and Safety (e.g. First Aid, Food Hygiene, Fire Marshalling)
• Construction (e.g. Manual Handling, CSCS,)
• Security (e.g. SIA Door Supervision Licence)
• Sports Coaching.
We provide entry-level office administration and individually tailored opportunities with the Lothian Veterans Centre.
We also provide support to access volunteering opportunities in the local community (e.g. Through Volunteer Midlothian) and the veterans’ community.
How to access• Drop-in centre (Normal opening hours are Monday - Friday 10:00 16:00, but may be subject to change)
