Community Resilience

When our communities are hit by challenges like snow and ice, storms, or power-cuts, what people do to help each other can make a real difference - particularly for those who might need that extra helping hand.

If you`re the kind of person who wants to help out in your community, Midlothian Council and Police Scotland are here to help. They want to find out what more can be done to support volunteers and local community groups cope better when there is an emergency. For example, they could provide grit and shovels during winter weather. They could also look at improving coordination within communities by helping set up local emergency groups or by raising awareness of community resilience in schools and among local businesses.
