Bus pass

5-21-year-olds

As of Monday 10 January, 5-21-year-olds living in Scotland can apply for free bus travel from 31 January 2022.

Because of Covid-19, please only apply now if it is essential you, or your child if under 16, travel while restrictions are in place. All other eligible applicants will be asked to apply later.

Even if you already have a National Entitlement Card or Young Scot National Entitlement Card, you must apply for a new or replacement card to travel by bus for free.

How to apply

Parents or guardians of under 16s must apply on their behalf and give approval for the free bus travel card to be activated.

Young people aged 16 years and over can apply themselves.

Children under 5-years-old already travel on buses for free.

You will need to sign in using your mygovscot myaccount.

You will need proof of you and your child’s identity and proof of your address.

Proof of identity for a parent/guardian can be a passport, driving licence or a YOTI account (YOTI is a secure digital ID)

If you can't apply online

For anyone who cannot apply online this page will be updated in coming days with more information about other ways to apply.
