Libraries, leisure centres and parks
From Monday 16 August bookable Tone Zone, lane swims and public swim sessions will stop and customers will be able to come to leisure centres without having to book in advance for those facilities. Online bookings are already available for fitness classes. Membership direct debits will resume from 1 September 2021 and annual members will have their membership extended by the amount of time lost. Memberships can be used from Monday 16 August. Some restrictions remain in place in our leisure centres so please visit your centre’s page on our website for more details before you come along.

Dalkeith, Danderhall, Gorebridge, Loanhead, Newtongrange and Penicuik Libraries are open. The mobile library will also continue to offer services to the wider community.
Libraries within the school campuses at the Lasswade and Newbattle Centres will be open 10.30am-7pm on Thursday 12 August and 10.30am-5pm on Friday 13 August. Newbattle Library will also open for self-service returns and borrowing on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 August from 9am-5pm. Newbattle and Lasswade will be closed temporarily on Monday 16 August while new arrangements to reopen outwith school hours are finalised. We'll update these pages with more details as soon as possible.
Roslin Library remains closed for the moment although the mobile library continues to visit once a week.

- NEC and Blue Badge enquiries and forms

Libraries - fine free
As well as all fines from first lockdown continuing to be waived, that there will now be no more fines or charges for all our Midlothian library users.
Printing, photocopying and laminating will still carry a charge, but the hire of CDs and DVDs will now be free of charge.

Leisure centre memberships
If you have a leisure centre membership, your direct debit will resume on 1 September and annual members will have their membership extended to cover the time lost because of coronavirus. Customers can use their memberships from Monday 16 August.
Sport and Leisure can take football bookings.
All bookings for grass and artificial pitches will be by calling the leisure centre associated with each specific pitch, no bookings will be taken in person.
To encourage local residents to socialise safely outdoors parks, including Vogrie Country Park will follow normal opening hours.
Parks and play areas
Our main parks currently remain open..
Vogrie Country Park is open. The car park and toilets are open from 10am until 4pm.
All children’s outdoor equipped play areas are open. We are encouraging users to clean hands before and after use.
