Seafield Moor Road cycling connection
This proposal was not approved for funding.
The project aims to improve the cycling connection on the A703 Seafield Moor Road between A701 and A702 Biggar Road.
Currently there is a pedestrian only path, and cyclists can only use the road. The road has fast traffic with no cycle lanes, which is a particular risk for cycling.
We aim to improve this with continuous cycle lanes and a temporary 40 mph speed limit along the whole route.
Our temporary solution would be to re-determine the path with signs, paint 2 metre cycle lanes and reduce the 60 mph speed limit to 40mph on this 3.1km long section. Road markings and signs (cycle logos, speed limit signs, repeater signs) will be used.
We aim to improve the Seafield Moor Road to Biggar Road link to provide safer routes for essential workers. This project will benefit commuting cyclists from Loanhead, Roslin and Penicuik, especially those commuting between the Bush and Edinburgh.
The cost of this project is £5760.
