Remembrance events 2020
Remembrance events guidance (updated 30 October 2020)
The council remains committed to our armed forces and veterans community. Remembrance events are very important in allowing a moment to pause, reflect and be thankful to those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
Remembrance Sunday events
With Midlothian to be placed at Protection Level 3, the Scottish Government advises organised local Remembrance events will not be able to take place unless they are held within a place of worship.
Honouring the fallen
Anyone who wishes to honour the fallen can still do so in the following ways:
- By joining the two minutes silence at 11.00 on Sunday 8 November from your doorstep as part of your community
- By attending a service at a place of worship (subject to max 50 attendees)
For members of our community or representatives of organisations who wish to pay their respects at a memorial, we ask that public health guidance is followed.
Gardens of Remembrance
Please note too that Gardens of Remembrance have been set up in Midlothian.
