Penicuik and District u3a

Live life to the full - that’s what the u3a is about, and Penicuik and District branch is the only one in Midlothian.

If you’re retired or semi-retired, want to get out more as COVID restrictions ease, make new friends and maybe learn a new skill, then this could be for you.

Before Covid-19, Penicuik and District u3a hosted a monthly guest speaker in Penicuik Town Hall and the topics were very varied. They have 23 interest groups involving academic, leisure, craft and social activities (complete list below). The branch has been relying on meeting through WhatsApp, Zoom, FaceTime and email, but are carrying on, having re-started guest speaker meetings in October 2020 via ‘Zoom’ online.

If you wish to join these online meetings, with a possible view to joining the u3a, please contact the secretary at the email address below.  For members, the branch has also introduced coffee/cake/chat meetings, fun quizzes, photographic shows, cartoon shows all by online video-conferencing with Zoom and with a weekly schedule. They have an annual (March-March) subscription of only £15 (it’s £12 this year) and you can find out more on their website:

or by emailing the secretary at:
