Ironmills Park steps shut
The steps at Ironmills Park from Cemetery Road in Dalkeith have been closed again because of further landslip problems.
After recent heavy rainfall, cracks have appeared on the steps and also at the top of the embankment. A large amount of sands and gravels have also been washed of the cliff. It has been acknowledged as the wettest December on record.
To keep the public safe while further assessments are carried out, it has been decided to close the steps. Fencing and gates will also be erected at either end of the footbridge.
The decision to shut the steps comes just over a year since the steps reopened on a temporary basis and then on a more long term basis as the slope suffered no further movement.
