Sign Up Now And Step Out for Midlothian's Walk The Line
Whether you're looking for a leisurely stroll, a personal challenge or simply an opportunity to enjoy some of Midlothian's most scenic countryside, organisers are inviting residents to sign up for this year's Walk The Line.
3, 5 and 8 mile walks
The popular annual walking event returns on Saturday 26 September, giving participants the chance to walk three, five or eight miles along the picturesque Penicuik to Eskbank walkway. Organised by volunteers from Midlothian's Wellbeing team, the event is open to people of all ages and abilities and is expected to attract scores of walkers from across the county.
Lunch provided
For just £3 per person including a picnic lunch, participants can choose the distance that suits them best. The five and eight-mile walks start at Valleyfield Pond car park, Penicuik, while the three-mile option begins in Rosewell, allowing even more people to get involved.
Penicuik to Eskbank walkway
The eight-mile route covers the entire Penicuik to Eskbank walkway, while the five-mile walk finishes at Hawthornden Cemetery Road End in Rosewell. Rosewell will also serve as a picnic stop for participants before they continue their journey or begin the shorter three-mile route.
Teas, coffees and stalls
Walkers can enjoy a break and the lunch provided with fellow participants before heading towards the finish line at Edinburgh College's Midlothian Campus, where teas, coffees and stalls will be available.
Lots to enjoy
Walk The Line is not a race and there's no pressure to complete the route at speed. Instead, the event is all about enjoying the outdoors, being active and spending time with family, friends and the wider community.
Children and dogs welcome
The event welcomes adults, children and even four-legged companions. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult and dogs should be kept on a lead.
