Midfest 2014 arts and crafts event in Dalkeith

Location: Dalkeith Arts Centre, White Hart Street, Dalkeith

This year we will be using an artist from WW1 to help mark the centenary.

A copy of the canvas will be divided into sections and given to a number of local artists who will each paint their individual sections in their own style.

The completed sections will then be put back together and the end result will be revealed!

              Midfest gets off to a rollicking start with Midlothian’s biggest rock festival in years, headlined by indie band, The View.

              Location: Dalkeith Country Park

              Time: 11:30 - 22:30

              Cost: £37.50, £5 under 12s

              Compered by Radio Forth’s Arlene Stuart, the event features 12 bands and a DJ set.

              There will also be a funfair and lots of great food and refreshments on offer.

              Parking at Dalkeith Country Estate is free and accessed through the King’s Gate, south of Sheriffhall roundabout on the A6106. Vehicle access to the Park via Dalkeith High Street will not be possible.

              Lea’s storytelling draws upon a wealth of skills and talents, from creative writing, to ballad singing and mandolin playing. Her style is warm, vivacious, engaging and fun.

              The stories she will tell are taken from a wide variety of genres and always relevant to the occasion.

              Midfest 2014: Music event

              Location: Penicuik Town Hall

              Time: 20:00

              Cost: £8 (£6 for members of PCAA or PFK), £4 for accompanied children under 15 years.

              The opening concert features Michelle Burke accompanied on piano by James Ross and Irish dance group Absolutely Legless.

              Michelle is developing a reputation as a solo artist and interpreter of traditional song. She is accompanied by James Ross who has twice been nominated as Composer of the Year at the Scottish Trade Music awards.

              Dancers on stage wearing white tops and red or green skirtsAbsolutely Legless are a folk dance group based in Edinburgh. Expect stunning choreography and spectacular dancing to superb music.
