Ageing Well Walking Rugby raises money for foodbank

Walking rugby donation

Local children and families in need are to benefit from a £1000 donation to Midlothian Food Bank by Midlothian Walking Rugby players.

Donation matched

Half  of the donation was matched by the teams shirt sponsor 99 Ventures. The cheque was presented to Janice Burns of the Foodbank.

Ageing Well

Part of Midlothian Council’s Ageing Well project, which offers activities to people aged 50 and over, the rugby team agreed to donate weekly collections that would normally go on evenings out.

Making a difference

David West of Sport & Leisure's Ageing Well team said: “Once again it has been humbling that the team have decided to donate to the foodbank, at this time of year, especially due to the cost of living crisis. We do hope that it can make a difference to individuals and families in our community.

Very generous

“We would also like to thank Dalkeith RFC in their continual support and to Alan Stables of 99 Ventures in sponsoring our team kit and his generosity in doubling the donation made to the foodbank.”
