Temporary changes to school transport arrangements because of roadworks

We have changed school transport arrangements due to planned road resurfacing works taking place at Powdermill Brae/Station Road, Gorebridge from Monday 23 February to Friday 27 February 2026.

This will affect bus services to and from Newbattle High School and St David's High School:

Newbattle High School

Bus 502

• This service will not be able to stop at Powdermill Brae during the roadworks period
• Please ask your child to board the bus at the stop prior to Powdermill Brae, which is Birkenside Terminus at 08:10am

Bus 505 and Bus 508

• Both routes will divert along Vogrie Road and turn left to begin the normal route. (no change to stops)
• The bus operator has been updated regarding this temporary diversion

St David's High School

Bus 307

• Route will divert along Vogrie Road and turn left to begin the normal route. (no change to stops)

Bus 308

• The bus will divert down A7 after Birkenside then make its way up Aspen Drive, turn right, up Hunterfield Road and turn at Gore Avenue and proceed with rest of route
• Pupils who usually board at Main Street should head to the Leisure Centre stop

• North Middleton - 07:50am
• Birkenside Terminus -07:55am
• Leisure Centre - 08:07am
• Arniston Engine - 08:10am
• St Andrews Primary School-08:12am

Bus operators informed

Bus operators have been fully consulted regarding these temporary changes, and all adjustments will be in place for the duration of the roadworks.

We ask that pupils allow a little extra time for their journey during this period in case of minor delays. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
