Midlothian schools instrumental music service
Music tuition for school pupils
What does the music service provide?
We provide tuition to approximately 1400 pupils (many of which are on SQA courses) on a wide variety of instruments, and voice to children in both primary and secondary schools in Midlothian.
Instructors
Lessons are delivered by a professional team of music instructors who work closely with schools to deliver a varied and challenging curriculum. The vast majority of these staff are conservatoire graduates and are very well qualified to deliver an excellent standard of instruction in their specialist area. All new staff are recruited after an extensive interview process and must possess at least a degree or graduate diploma.
Performance opportunities
There are opportunities for children to play in a variety of ensembles, both at school and regional level, which perform at venues locally, nationally, and internationally. Many of Midlothian's young musicians also play with national ensembles such as the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland, and several go on to pursue music as a career.
