What is the allowance?
The Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) is a weekly payment based on school attendance and is means tested. It is paid fortnightly into the student's bank account.
Who can apply?
School students who will have reached their 16th birthday after 1 March 2012 and decided to stay on at school from August 2012.
