Who should apply?
Anyone who keeps wild animals for exhibition to the public. -
You’ll need a zoo licence if you’ll be displaying wild animals to the public for at least 7 days a year, in any place that’s not a circus or pet shop.

Cost
4 year licence - £800 (inspection costs to be borne by applicant)
4 year licence - £465 (small zoo)
Significant alteration of a Zoo Licence (per hour) - £95
Transfer of a Zoo licence - £95
Performing animals - £125 -
Additional costs
Zoo inspector(s) nominated by Scottish Ministers. Veterinary inspection costs to be borne by applicant. -
Timescales (usual)
A Zoo licence lasts for 4 years with a period inspection required mid-term. -
