Allan has worked in the leisure industry for over 27 years in a range of roles in the public and private sector.  Having joined Midlothian Council in 2003 as a Community Health & Fitness Officer and progressing into senior roles he has a vast depth of knowledge and experience of working with a wide range of projects and partner organisations.  


Vivian Wallace – Ageing Well Coordinator

Vivian Wallace - Ageing Well Co-ordinator

Vivian has always been involved in sport either playing or teaching from dance to swimming, basketball to throwing the javelin. She has worked in Sport and Leisure for over 30 years and in this post for the past 14 years. She developed walking football as a sport for older participants within the project which has now grown and played nationally. She then assisted in the creation of Walking Football Scotland, a national charity and sits on the Board of Trustees.  Vivian believes that Ageing Well is more than a physical activity project, it’s the friendships and fun that keep people coming back and she really enjoys working with the dedicated team of volunteers.


David West – Wellbeing Officer

David West - Wellbeing OfficerDavid has worked on various health improvement projects involving physical activity. He is an avid sports fan and keen exerciser in the outdoors.  Over the years he has led numerous classes & pioneered new initiatives such as Walking Rugby. David holds an MSc in Public Health Practice and enjoys helping to motivate people to become healthier through exercise.


Mark McCafferty – Health Walk & Mobility Officer

Mark McCafferty - Health Walk & Mobility OfficerMark has worked in the leisure industry since 1990, working around the UK within hotels, private operators, trusts and council establishments.  He has worked for Midlothian Council since 2001 in various roles within Sport & Leisure and brings a wealth of knowledge to this new role within the Sport & Leisure Wellbeing section.


Darren McGregor – Training & Development Officer

Darren McGregor - Training Development OfficerDarren has worked in the leisure industry Since 1996, working across central Scotland within various Sport & Leisure facilities. After becoming a Trainer/Assessor with the Royal Lifesaving Society in 2002 he quickly realised that teaching/training was his main passion. Darren has worked for Midlothian Council since 2011 within Sport & Leisure and is loving the challenges in this new role.


Barry Morrison – Wellbeing Instructor

Barry Morrison - Wellbeing InstructorBarry has an extensive background of more than thirty years in sports related activities including Rugby and Martial Arts. Having been with Midlothian Council for more than ten years Barry has progressed through various roles including Gym Instructor, Personal Trainer, teaching fitness classes and leading weight management courses through MAC.


Paige Hunter – Wellbeing Instructor

Paige Hunter - Wellbeing InstructorPaige has worked in the sport and leisure industry for more than 10 years in a variety of roles including fitness instructor, swimming teacher and gym instructor. She is currently working for Midlothian Active Choices delivering a variety of classes and courses. Paige views exercise as a great tool to help people in pain and enjoys the connection it brings to those she works with.
