Council's Ageing Well Co-ordinator on New Year Honours List
We are so proud the council’s Ageing Well Co-ordinator Vivian Wallace has been awarded an MBE in the New Year Honours List for services to older people.
Activities for people aged 50 and over
Vivian co-ordinates more than 70 Ageing Well volunteers who are helping keep local people aged 50+ active and social by taking part in 60 weekly activities, from Pickleball to singing.
Walking football
Vivian was fundamental to starting walking football in Midlothian and for setting up the Walking Football Scotland charity.
Taking the sport across the country
Now a Regional Representative for the charity, Vivian also served on its board, helping share the sport throughout the country and beyond.
Changing lives
On a trip to introduce walking football to people in Trinidad and Tobago, Vivian and the team also helped build a house for a family with the not-for-profit organisation, Habitat for Humanity.
Delighted
Vivian said she was delighted to be honoured with an MBE. Congratulations Vivian for your well-deserved recognition.
