Council headquarters closing for repairs and improvements
Midlothian Council headquarters, Midlothian House, will close on Monday 25 August for around 18 months for repairs to the outside of the building and while the ground floor is turned into a one stop shop for council services.
Energy-efficient
Work will also be done to extend the life of the building and make it more energy-efficient.
Services moving
From Monday 25 August, No 9 White Hart Street (the former Drummond Miller building) will be open for cash, revenues and homelessness appointments. Fairfield House reception on Lothian Road will be open for any other enquiries.
Library and arts centre
Services that will move into the ground floor of Midlothian House include the library and arts centre.
Town centre regeneration
Dalkeith Library and Arts Centre and Fairfield House will then be disposed of or redeveloped as part of Dalkeith town centre’s regeneration.
Costs
The cost of the work is largely covered by savings made from closing other council buildings and making Midlothian House more energy efficient.
