Making a planning application

You can submit an application using the Scottish Government's ePlanning Scotland website. Alternatively you can submit an application by post using the forms available to download at the ePlanning Scotland website.

The online application method is intended to make the application process faster, cheaper and more efficient.

Fees

Most applications require payment of a fee, but some may not. The Council has produced a guide to fees to help applicants.

We accept the following payment methods.

  • Cheque: Payable to Midlothian Council.
  • Credit Card: Online applications only
  • Cash: Cash payments are taken at the Council's public counter at Buccleuch House in Dalkeith.
