MELDAP - Midlothian and East Lothian Drug and Alcohol Partnership

MELDAP commission drug and alcohol services that provide treatment and support to people with substance use and people affected by the substance use of others. These services are provided by a range of statutory and voluntary agencies.

MELD Contact Service (18+)

If you need support with drug or alcohol issues call or text 07843 339 958 Monday – Friday 9am-9pm. You can leave a message on the answer phone any other time.

You can speak to someone who can direct you to the most appropriate service for support.

If your call is about opioid use, you may be offered a same day / next day appointment, assessment and treatment, with the offer to start Opioid Replacement Therapy on the same day.

Recovery Services

Many people have a different understanding of what recovery means. MELDAP uses the definition that “recovery is a process of change through which individuals improve their health and wellness, live a self-directed life and strive to reach their full potential”.

If you are just setting out on your recovery then remember to take it slowly and one step at a time. It is important to connect with the recovery community and there are many ways to do that.

There are Recovery Cafes, SMART (Self-Management and Recovery Training) meetings, employability services, recovery college and mutual aid groups.
